The 11-month-old puppy, named Frost, was abandoned as a result of her disability. She was left at foster-based dog rescue centre, Yappy Ever After in Derby, East Midlands, on Saturday. Her previous owner reportedly "felt she wasn't experienced enough" to look after the deaf Staffordshire Bull Terrier.

INTERESTING FACT ABOUT YOUR PET: Have you ever wondered why your dog curls up in a ball when they sleep? It’s actually an age-old instinct to keep themselves warm and to protect vital organs while they sleep.

It is now hoped that the young puppy will find a forever home.

Yappy Ever After requires that adoptive dog owners must take their puppies to attend training classes.

Frost can live with children and other pets, such as cats.

The centre has said it would also benefit her if she lived with another dog, as they could show her the ropes.

Speaking about how best to look after a hearing-impaired puppy, Ms Radford said: "One of the main challenges when caring for a deaf dog is recall.

"You can teach them hand signals instead, to help enrich their lives and keep them safe.

"When out walking, a long lead is important too as it gives them the freedom to explore and have a good run around."
