Pit bull attacked boy, 15, and ‘ripped half his face off’

15-year-old attacked by pit bull

A teenager ‘could have been killed’ by a pit bull that ‘ripped half his face off’ according to his distressed mother.

Tamara Doonkeen, from Yukon, Alaska, said her 15-year-old son was attacked by a ‘vicious’ dog while he walked in the street with two friends on Monday. The attack left the teen needing hospital treatment for injuries to his face and Tamara the dog will attack again. She urging the owner of the pit bull to come forward, warning that if the dog attacks a smaller child it could be deadly, reports KOCO 5.

Tamara said: ‘It got his face, completely ripped his right side of his face off.

‘We need the dog surrendered. We need to prevent this from happening again.

‘If this would’ve been a smaller child, they wouldn’t have survived. If it would’ve got my son’s throat, he wouldn’t have survived.’

Pit bulls are a banned breed of dog in some cities in several US states including Ohio, Missouri, Michigan and Iowa, but not Alaska.

Tamara added that her son distracted the dog away from his two female friends.

Use a Magic Eraser to Get Rid of Drool Marks. Does your drool a lot? If so you’ve probably got a bunch of drool marks all over the house. You can say goodbye to scrubbing off those drool marks by getting yourself some magic erasers.

‘It went after the girls first, and he distracted the dog and, unfortunately, took one for the team’, Tamara said.

The girls ran home for help before the teen was eventually rushed to hospital where he underwent intensive reconstructive surgery.

Tamara said that her son may unfortunately lose some feeling in his face for life, but stressed they won’t know until later on in his recovery.

Yukon police are investigating the incident and say that the dog was described as black and pit-like with a blue or green collar. They added that if it has an owner, they could face charges for harboring and failing to restrain a vicious animal.

Police have asked people in the local area to remain vigilant.

Tamara added: ‘It’s been a nightmare to say the least. It’s obviously vicious and, if it hasn’t done this before, it’s going to do it again.

‘And I just hope that if this does belong to somebody, they will take responsibility.’
