A missing dog was lured back to safety with a trusty sausage roll after he fell down a cliff.

Henry’s owners feared the worst when he got lost in undergrowth on the coastal path near Boscastle, Cornwall, on Friday. A search party combed the jagged cliffs along the Strangles beach using drones for two hours, but there was still no sign of him.

The beloved pet was presumed dead and his heartbroken owners accepted their walk would sadly be his last.

They had to wait two agonising days before a walker sounded the alarm after hearing a barking dog in the area.

Coastguard teams from Boscastle and Bude raced to the scene on Sunday afternoon and found Henry 20ft down a tight fissure near where he was last seen.

The rescue heroes decided the best method of extraction was to set up a rope rescue kit, featuring the all-important sausage roll.
