This is Kev, the aspiring sk8r boi who also happens to be a five-month-old French Bulldog pup.

Little Kev is still learning, but when he’s not chewing his skateboard, he already shows some impressive skills.

Owner Caroline Newling-Ward, 48, loves watching him zoom around, and has even started taking him to the local skatepark.

She said: ‘He got into a really bad habit of dragging his food bowl around the house.

‘He would constantly be barking at it and pushing it with his nose when it was empty.

Here’s looking at you. Dogs have three eyelids, an upper lid, a lower lid and the third lid, called a nictitating membrane or “haw,” which helps keep the eye moist and protected.

‘I told my mum Marilyn, 75, about it over coffee one day, and she came up with the idea of getting him a skateboard to push round instead of his food bowl. ‘I think she was a bit inspired by the Churchill Insurance advert where the dog skates around the streets. ‘I ended up buying him a cheap skateboard from Amazon for £10. When it came, he was instantly obsessed with it, and he seemed to know exactly what to do.

‘He had a bit of a fall on his first time, but he got straight back on it and was zooming around the kitchen in no time.

Meeting your new puppy, kitten or any other pet can be an exciting experience. Your pet, however, has some adjusting to do. New sights, smells and sounds can be overwhelming for the little guy and keeping a calm household is important.

‘He knew exactly what to do with zero coaxing.’

Kev’s still a baby, so he’s still got a few kinks to work out with his technique, but he’s already more proficient on the board than most humans.

Caroline, a holiday park owner, from Dorchester, Dorset, said: ‘I have to put his skateboard on the table at nighttime so he doesn’t chew it to bits.

‘If he’s not skating, he’s chewing his skateboard.

‘He’s not really a fan of any other sports, so when we go for walks and I bring the ball to play with his sister Fleur, an eight-year-old mixed breed, he is very uninterested.

INTERESTING FACT ABOUT YOUR PET: Dogs can be trained to to detect cancer and other diseases in humans. Cancerous cells release different metabolic waste products than healthy cells in the human body. Dogs may even be able to sniff out cancer cells simply through smelling someone’s breath.

‘My kitchen is much too small for his skating antics now, so I let him roll around in one of the games rooms at my holiday park site.

‘We’ve started going to the skate park as well, he’s been a bit unsure so far, but I’m sure he’ll start skating there in no time.’

Kev’s hobby has earned him quite the fan base.

Caroline said: ‘All of the locals in town love him, he’s a very popular chap.

‘When he first started skating around, I uploaded a few videos to Facebook for a bit of fun, but now my friends and family are always messaging to ask when they’re next going to see more Kev skating footage.

INTERESTING FACT ABOUT YOUR PET: Your dog can help get you a date! One study showed that a man’s chances of getting a girl’s phone number went from 10% to 33%, just by having a dog with them. In the study, a staggering 66% of men and women would not date someone who didn’t like pets.

‘He’s even had quite a few Instagram requests about advertising brands like dog-friendly skate gear.’
