Shocking images show the extent of abuse a neglected dog suffered at the hands of her cruel owners who left her dumped in a street.Tiggy the lurcher, was just ‘skin and bones’ and close to death when she was rescued by animal welfare officers ditched just before Christmas.
The poor three-year-old dog had lost most of its fur leaving her dramatically emaciated frame exposed.Animal welfare officers were called over concerns for Tiggy’s welfare and were severely distressed by the state in which they found her in a street in Blyth.
Northumberland County Council are now appealing to find the poor dog’s owners and bring them to justice after ‘such a shocking and inexcusable case of neglect’.Tiggy is now being cared for in a foster home organised through Berwick Animal Rescue Kennels where she is on a special diet to help her regain some weight.
After receiving some much needed love and attention, Tiggy appears to be on the mend and is getting her energy back.
A council animal welfare officer said: ‘This dog was in a really horrific state. Someone, somewhere knows who she belongs to, or has seen her about.
Run a dryer sheet over your dog's fur when there's a storm — chances are, they aren't freaked out about the storm but the static electricity built up in their fur. According to Martha, this should work at least 50% of the time.
‘She was completely skin and bone and less than half the weight she should have been.
‘She had no fur, has never been microchipped and seems to have just been dumped out on the streets.
‘This is a shocking and inexcusable case of neglect and we are very keen to get to the bottom of how she came to be in such an emaciated condition and bring the person(s) responsible to account.’Anyone with any information, no matter how small, contact the Animal Welfare Team on 0345 600 6400 or by email to [email protected] in the strictest of confidence.
