If everything feels a little bleak and you’re really in need of that Christmas break, we have the perfect antidote – a park full of sausage dogs in Christmas costumes.
The now annual sausage dog walk took place this weekend and the pictures are adorable. The group of dachshund owners and their puppies come together in Hyde Park a few times a year but the festive editon often has a huge turnout. Last year, over 500 pooches turned up. The Hyde Park sausage dog walk was set up by Ana Rodriguez and her dog Winston in 2017.
She wanted to meet with other owners on a regular basis so she posted an event online. They set a meeting point by the Italian Fountains and were surprised when lots of canine friends turned up to meet them.
The walk has grown since then and they continue to meet each month, with hundreds of fans. This year, the walk was raising money for The Red Foundation – a charity that rescues and rehomes Dachshunds. In total, they raised over £300 for the charity this weekend.
Let’s take a look at some of the best costumes:
Why are dogs’ noses so wet? Dogs’ noses secrete a thin layer of mucous that helps them absorb scent. They then lick their noses to sample the scent through their mouth.
