A heartbroken dog was was photographed waiting by his owner’s hospital bed, not realising he had passed away.The picture of Moose, a three-year-old Labrador mix, was shared online by North Star Pet Rescue, a charity in New Jersey, in hopes of finding him a new home. Its caption read: ‘Moose sat patiently next to his dad’s hospital bed, waiting for him to return, not knowing that “Dad” had passed away.

‘Please help Moose find a new home and a family for him to love. He’s a sweet happy boy by nature. He just needs people to help his heart heal.’
The post added that Moose ‘adores kids’, is okay with other dogs, but doesn’t like birds and cats.
Help Them Adapt to New Environments. “The only thing that likes change is a four-week-old baby in a wet diaper.” Though puppies and kittens are easygoing, mature pets often need guidance transitioning into new spaces. Dr. Becker advises introducing them slowly. “Don’t just dump them in a new house and hope for the best.” Pheromone sprays are handy for making strange houses more inviting. “Cats,” notes Dr. Becker, exist as both predator and prey, and in predator mode, they need vertical surfaces like climbing towers to feel safe.”
But it placed emphasis on his love of people, stating that he would do best in a house where he ‘wasn’t left home alone all day long’.
It was later updated to add that ‘through the power of social media’ Eleventh Hour Rescue, the kennel currently looking after the dog, had already received several applications for his care.
