Have You Seen the Bucket Video Yet?

What do you get when some bees, a rabbit, a couple of birds, a pair of chickens, a donkey, and a Texas Longhorn get together for a drink?

Nope, it’s not the set-up for a farm-friendly punchline, rather, it’s the unlikely mix that’s made up a most surprising viral video sensation.

A two-minute long clip made by the folks at the Southwest Texas Alternative Energy and Sustainable Living Field Laboratory shows the various animals who reside on the desert property going to a bucket to have a refreshing drink of water.

The bucket has a GoPro camera (in a waterproof container) placed at the bottom so it can catch all the action from a view we rarely get to see.

The fascinating (and oddly soothing) video has garnered nearly four million viewers in the span of just a few days.

John Wells of the Field Lab shared some fun, behind-the-scenes tidbits on his blog , telling readers that his pet steer Ben only nudged the bucket (“You can lead a steer to water but you can’t make him drink”) and that the bees that landed in the bucket were saved from a possible drowning.

Wells, who captured about three hours of footage total, says he wasn’t surprised by what he saw, but he was thrilled to see his favorite cottontail rabbit, named George, make a cameo.

“The view was everything I expected it to be,” Wells says. “What surprised me most was the fact that the video went viral.”

Now, sit back, have a nice cool drink of water, and enjoy the clip that has everyone buzzing.
