Daft dog called Thor attacks porcupine and instantly regrets it

The three-year-old dog, who had been found with spikes of a hedgehog all over its body, has been saved after his owner posted an appeal on social media in February 2022.

A Brazilian dog got itself into a prickly predicament after attacking a porcupine for the second time in a year. Thor ended up being spiked with hundreds of quills in his face, mouth, tongue, nose, neck and other body parts and picking on the wrong animal. The dopey dog was found with the unusual injuries by his owner in Araras, in the state of Sao Paulo, on the morning of Sunday, February 20.

But there was a happy ending for the three-year-old dog, who has now been nursed back to health after a heart-breaking appeal from his owner, who also has four children.

Limit treats to training rewards. This is an excellent way to make sure your dog views treats as special rather than expected. It’s also helpful in keeping your pet from becoming overweight or obese. Feed a species-appropriate diet, and partner with a holistic or integrative vet to maintain your pet’s well-being.

Unemployed Adriano Bertoline had launched an online appeal as he could not afford to pay for Thor’s veterinary treatment.

He wrote on social media: ‘Good morning, guys… I woke up this morning and I saw my dog like this… Please, any clinic or vet that can come to help him? I cannot pay.’

After councillor Dr Jose Roberto Apolari saw the dog owner’s request, he stepped in and agreed to help.

Adriano later posted an update which read: ‘Dr Apolari was an angel in my dog’s life because I couldn’t afford to pay for a private veterinarian.

INTERESTING FACT ABOUT YOUR PET: Your dog can smell your feelings. In fact, your dog’s sense of smell is approximately 100,000 times better than yours. So it shouldn’t be shocking that they can in fact, smell things such as fear. When a human is fearful, they perspire, and a dog is easily able to pick up on this change.

‘I’m unemployed at the moment and I have four children to feed at home.’

Adriano said the councillor took the dog to the clinic, helped with the costs, and brought Thor home afterwards.

He added that this is the second time the dog has had an altercation with a porcupine in a year.

Back in February 2021, Thor was helped by Adriano’s friend, who was working at a private veterinary clinic.

Watch that plate of cookies! A Dog’s sense of smell is 10,000 – 100,000 times more acute as that of humans.

It is unclear what happened to the porcupine in both instances.
