Britain’s fattest dog has been put on a strict diet in an effort to lose five stone (32kg).
George, six, weighs in at 11 stone (70kg) – as much as an average British woman.
He is said to have ballooned after gorging on pasties and pies that were thrown over the garden fence at his Devon home.
As his owners couldn’t afford to feed him, the RSPCA rescued the Alaskan malamute, nicknamed Georgie Porgie, and placed him into the care of Gables Farm, which has become known for treating some of the country’s heaviest dogs.

Hattie the Fatty and Bopper the Whopper, who at their peaks weighed a combined 14.5 stone (92kg), were both taken there and soon lost over four stone (25kg) between them.
Ruth Pickards, deputy manager for the farm, said she and the team were proud of the work they did to help obese animals get a better life.First picture of 'gunman' who murdered journalist Lyra McKee
She added: ‘It’s heartbreaking because it is so easy to prevent, but we will build on our previous success and get him slimmed down.
Use Baking Soda to Clean up Pet Urine. If your dog pees on the carpet use baking soda (which is also great at removing odors) to clean it up. Pour some baking soda over the spot, let it sit for 20 minutes and then vacuum it up.
‘Dogs like Georgie Porgie help to remind us of what it means to be a true non-euthanasia charity.’
As well as his diet plan, George is being reintroduced to exercise as staff aim to help him lose up to a kilogram (2lb) a week.
George’s low-calorie dog food and pain relief medicine have saddled the chunky canine with over £800 of medical bills, leading the shelter to set up a fundraising campaign.
