An unofficial Joe Biden campaign video says Donald Trump can’t be trusted because he’s the only US president in recent history without a dog. The video, released Tuesday by an organization called Dog Lovers For Joe Biden, shows past presidents Ronald Reagan, George HW Bush, Bill Clinton, George W Bush and Barack Obama , all appearing with their beloved pets, and then cuts to Trump making fun of dogs . ‘Trump is the first President without a dog in the White House in over a century,’ the video says. It then cuts to a photo of Biden with his German Shepherd named Champ and says ‘Choose your humans wisely.’
The video shows Trump dismissively shaking his head at a rally, saying ‘How would I look walking a dog on the White House lawn?’ It has former president Ronald Reagan, George H W Bush and his son George W Bush, Barack Obama, Bill Clinton all with their dogs at the White House. The video was created by Rob Schwartz, an advertising executive who told AdAge he undertook the eye-catching personal project as ‘a concerned American citizen,’ ‘I was seeing all the wonderful photographs of Joe Biden and dogs on the internet and thought it was interesting,’ he said. ‘All of a sudden it just materialized.’

Possibly the best use of old jeans ever: a lap pillow.

While Trump remains dogless, there was one unsuccessful attempt to pair him up with a pet, according to the Washington Post. That saw a philanthropist friend of the president attempted to give him a Goldendoodle. Trump’s son Barron was 10-years-old at the time and allegedly teared up at the sight of the dog in a picture, but still the president never has owned one. While dogs and US presidents historically have been a staple of American politics, Ivana Trump, his first wife wrote in her 2017 memoir that her dog would ‘bark at him territorially.’ ‘Donald was not a dog fan,’ she wrote. New polls show that Trump is losing by 16 points to Joe Biden, but polls showed former Democractic candidate Hillary Clinton up against Trump in 2016.
Americans will decide who will be president on Tuesday, November 3.
