This is the kind of cuteness and joy we need in the world right now.

All Elite Wrestling has announced a huge match for next week’s final part of the Fyter Fest double header – and they’re pulling out all the stops. Next Wednesday, the company are hyping the first ever Puppy Battle Royale featuring a whole host of adorable pooches looking to be crowned champion.

As it stands, we’ve got absolutely no idea how this is going to work, but it will be a welcome break from all the doom and gloom just to see a bunch of pups rolling around loving life.

In a brilliant clip announcing the wonderfully bizarre idea, iconic wrestling commentator Jim Ross can be heard setting the scene.

‘This is a main event for the ages,’ he promises.

Honestly, we’re ready for it.

With the coronavirus pandemic still rumbling on – and both WWE and AEW working with limitation in terms of live crowds – anything there to break things up is a welcome distraction.

The first part of Fyter Fest took place last night, with fans delighted by the in-ring action even without the addition of some cute dogs.

Always keep an ID tag on your pet. Consider getting your pet microchipped as well to help identify him if he is lost or stolen.

The show saw some hard-hitting matches, with Jurassic Express emerging victorious over MJF and Wardlow, while Penelope Ford beat Hikaru Shida to win the AEW Women’s Championship. Elsewhere, TNT Champion Cody retained his title against Jake Hager, Private Party defeated Santana and Ortiz. Meanwhile, the main event saw Kenny Omega and Hangman Page retain the tag team titles over Best Friends before facing off with FTR and Young Bucks after the bell. The tag division is really heating up in AEW after the team formerly known as the Revival arrived on the scene – and it will be fascinating to see how things develop.
