Man's best friends also like a good slumber, sleeping for around nine hours each day, say their human housemates.

The most common sleeping position for dogs is curled up (71 percent), while 57 percent lie on their back with legs in the air.
And 41 percent of dogs kick up a stink – by waking themselves up after breaking wind.
